Do your research and bring questions
We love an educated client! We offer tons of education on our website and social media, and we encourage you to do your own research as well. Always look for a provider that is well-trained and knowledgeable. At Beauty Bar & Wellness, our Nurse Practitioners are trained and experienced and are always staying up to date on the latest information and treatment techniques. We try to educate you on how your muscles move, how the treatments work, and we will answer all of your questions and address any concerns prior to your treatment. We will also be able to recommend which particular neuromodulator brand would be best for you.
Schedule your appointment accordingly
Neuromodulators like Botox, Dysort, Jeuveau, and Xeomin take about 2 weeks to settle and fully relax the muscles they are targeting. We will schedule you for a follow up 2 weeks after your initial appointment and evaluate how the tox settled and at that point we can do any touch ups required. When planning around a social event you may want to plan about a month ahead. Bruising is a common side effect after wrinkle relaxer treatment, you may have small bruising at the injection points, but ice will help and you are allowed to cover the areas with makeup the next day. Post-care is extremely important after your treatment too. We will go over these in detail at your appointment, but we recommend no laying down for 4 hours after, no saunas or facials for the rest of the day and no exercise for about 24 hours after your treatment, we also don’t want you to apply makeup until the next day. So keep all of this in mind when scheduling.
Arrive with a makeup free and clean face
Removing your makeup prior to your appointment will help us get a better look at your skin, it will also help reduce the risk of infection. Infections are very rare, but can happen. We will also use alcohol or another antiseptic to cleanse your face prior to injection.
Let your practitioner know about your medical history, allergies, and current medications- including supplements
It is very important that your practitioner knows about your medical history, allergies, and current medications (including any supplements) prior to any procedure to determine if you are a good candidate for treatment. We will also ask about recent or planned surgeries and vaccinations.
Be open-minded to recommendations
When you come in for a Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau or Xeomin treatment we will do a FREE full face consultation. Just be open-minded that we may recommend other treatment areas or other treatment modalities that will be aligned with your particular treatment goals. No worries if our recommendations are not something you are ready for at the time- we want you to be a life-long client and your priorities are always our top priority! We will do everything we can to help boost your confidence and help you feel good about yourself.
Bring your calendar to schedule your follow up
As we already mentioned, it takes about 2 weeks for Botox, Dysport, Jeuvea, or Xeomin to fully set in. We will schedule a follow up appointment at that 2 week mark to evaluate your muscle movement and see if we need to add or tweak your dose.
There is no right or wrong time to start treating those wrinkles. It is normal to feel nervous before your appointment, it is your face. At Beauty Bar & Wellness we like to educate and answer questions, and we do everything we can to help you feel comfortable. We can also use comfort measures if needles aren’t your thing. Remember this is an elective treatment option, you’re already beautiful!!
